A RACHEL pilot deployment in India - February 2009

Megha, a World Possible volunteer, was in India this past February 2009, and installed a RACHEL server in Nerala's Child Survival India, in Outer New Delhi.

The center has a small room with four desktop computers donated by the Habitat Center, but there is no Internet connectivity.

Megha piloted the RACHEL server to the computer teacher and 24 students between the ages of 18 - 22.

We asked the teacher to set up the server while a few students watched. Everyone found the setup to be easy.
We showed them the power of this server by demoing how to access the rich Wikipedia content stored in the server, thousands of e-books, and math and science lectures.

The kids were very excited and wanted us to incorporate more videos on proper ways of conducting interviews, and information on career counseling as well as health information. Lots of useful feedback was collected, to incorporate to RACHEL.

The teacher was very excited as she wanted to use the information to enhance her classes.
