Orphanage

World Possible team also took out time from the teaching schedule to visit a local Orphanage. The goal was to interact with the kids to encourage, motivate and inspire them to follow their dreams and lead a successful life. The orphanage had over 300 kids and it was very disheartening to hear that most of them were HIV positive. We are seeking active support and involvement from the global community to help raise awareness and work towards a brighter future for millions around the world.

The team will like to thank numerous people from the bay area who donated their time along with various gifts for the orphans. A special thanks goes out to Aparna Davaluri for her extremely generous donations and kindness.

One particular story that we will like to share with everyone was of an eleven year boy named Ydnekachew Mesfin. His mother Belyu Tesfaye was married at a very young age of 12 years and had Ydnekachew at the age of 13. His father left when he found that his kid was disabled. Mother and her son went through numerous turmoils, social outclass, poverty, diseases and now the kid is fighting his battle alone against HIV and polio in both his legs. He was asked to leave from the school as they were afraid he would fall down often. His mother had to put him up in a different school that costs much more for such kids. We learnt from the orphanage that Ydnekachew is an excellent student and is the topper of his class. The volunteer team, at a personal level felt the need to support such kids and is therefore sponsoring half his education.
